Luxembourg
Free for carsLuxembourg has no road tolls and no vignette for cars; every road is free.
Overview
Luxembourg has no road tolls and no vignette for cars; every road is free. Luxembourg City brought in a low-emission zone in 2025, but it only bars very old cars, so most pass without a thought. It is a well-known cheap-fuel stop.
Good news: motorways are free for cars here.
City & emission zones
- Luxembourg City low-emission zone
Since 2025 the city centre bars pre-Euro 5 diesel and pre-Euro 3 petrol cars, camera-enforced with no sticker. Most cars from about 2010 on are fine. Fines run 145 to 500 euro.
Fuel
Petrol€1.50per litre
Diesel€1.45per litre
Local tips
- Fill up here: fuel is still cheaper than in Belgium and France, though the gap with Germany has narrowed.
- Nothing to buy or register to drive: no vignette, no tags, no road charge.
- In an older diesel (pre-Euro 5) or old petrol car, check the city zone before driving into the centre.
- The zone is camera-enforced by plate, so there is nothing to display.
