Dutch motorways are free for cars. A couple of tunnels charge a small toll, and several cities run environmental zones that bar older diesel cars from the centre.

City & emission zones

Camera-enforced zones that mostly bar older diesel cars by Euro standard; petrol and electric cars are unaffected. No fee, just a ban. Check your car and the city at milieuzones.nl before driving into a centre.
Toll bridges & tunnels

Free for cars since December 2024, eight years early. Older guides and sat-navs may still show it as a toll.

Local tips
- The Westerscheldetunnel is free for cars now; do not let an old guide tell you otherwise.
- Driving an older diesel (Euro 3 or below), check milieuzones.nl before Amsterdam, Utrecht or Rotterdam, or you could be barred.
- The Blankenburgtunnel has no booth; pay online at e-tol.nl after your trip or get a fine.
- Fuel here is among the priciest in Western Europe; filling up across the Belgian or German border can save real money.
