Swedish motorways are free for cars, with no vignette. Stockholm and Gothenburg charge an automatic congestion tax on weekdays, with no booth to pay at. The Oresund bridge to Denmark charges a big toll, and two bridges carry a small automatic charge. Prices are in kronor (SEK).

City & emission zones
- Congestion tax (Stockholm)
Charged on weekdays, 6am to about 6.30pm, by camera with no booth. It varies by time of day, from 11 SEK off-peak to 45 SEK at peak, capped per day. No charge in July. Foreign cars are billed by post via Epass24; miss the due date and a 500 SEK penalty is added.
- Congestion tax (Gothenburg)
Same idea as Stockholm: a weekday camera tax, 9 to 22 SEK a passage, capped at 60 SEK a day, billed via Epass24. Several passages within an hour count once.
Toll bridges & tunnels

Local tips
- The Stockholm and Gothenburg congestion taxes are automatic; there is no booth, so expect a bill by post weeks later.
- The Oresund bridge is the one big cost on a Sweden trip; budget about 63 euro each way.
- Foreign cars are not billed automatically like Swedish ones; pay the Epass24 invoice on time or a 500 SEK penalty is added.
- There is no congestion tax in July in Stockholm, handy if your trip is mid-summer.
